Running Time: 11:11 Date: 01/12/2012 Are you on top of the changes to employment law and occupational health and safety taking effect in 2013? It's time to take stock. Changes to workplace law and occupational health and safety regimes which passed into legislation in 2012 will take effect in 2013, and workplace relations expert Joydeep Hor of People & Culture Strategies says it's important for employers to be aware of them. The unfair dismissal provisions of the Fair Work Act have been amended, and we can expect to see the growth in cases of alleged bullying continue, though there is no single workplace tribunal empowered to handle them. As many cases are settled, there's also a lack of case law, contributing to a general lack of clarity. Joydeep advises employers to be pro-active and open in their dealings with employees, to limit the likelihood of unhappiness and subsequent claims. Topics: Human Resources, Legal, Management |
