Date: 01/05/2011 Don't be tricked by dodgy websites into handing over money for information about government grants to business - it's all available free from official sources. The consumer and competition watchdog, the ACCC, has issued a warning to business owners not to be taken in by websites purporting to offer information about and access to government grants for a fee. Some people have paid hundreds of dollars for information that's freely available from the government's own sources. Dr Michael Schaper, deputy chair of the ACCC, says the scams are often based overseas, with the websites made to look as official as possible. Disclaimers are only found in the fine print. He recommends going to www.grantslink.gov.au for official information at no cost. Topics: Business Processes, Legal, Management |
