Dividend payment rule changes are in effect now. Do you know what they are and what you should do?

Important changes to dividend payment rules came into effect at the end of financial year 2009/10. Chartered accountant, David Sauer of GAAP Consulting, says the former "profits" test now makes way for solvency tests. He advises all accountants to be aware of the changes. David Sauer says that assets and liabilities must be assessed under Australian Accounting Standards but debate about which standards to use continues. He also advises accountants to review company constitutions.
