New IR rules are coming in - watch out for the changes to unfair dismissal laws. From July 1, 2009, the Rudd Government's Fair Work Act replaces the Work Choices legislation. The main impact on small and medium-sized businesses will be on potential unfair dismissal claims. Previously, companies with 100 or fewer staff were exempt, now it will be 15 or fewer, and even there a fair dismissal code applies.
