Get the right protection - and stay out of court Your business brand, the product or service you've created, your latest innovation or new design - all these things need protecting from less scrupulous operators intent on stealing your intellectual property. And IP legal expert, Paul Brennan, warns that the better your idea, the more likely it is that you'll be targeted by IP thieves. Paul Brennan says that of the five areas of IP law - copyright, trademarks, patents, trade secrets and designs - copyright should be the primary focus for small to medium sized businesses. Paul outlines the areas where businesses are most vulnerable and where the most common disputes arise. But in the global business marketplace in which we all operate these days, he says it isn't easy to fight off predators - so take care when considering court action.
