Running Time: 7:17 Date: 01/05/2014 Managing people effectively is a cocktail of emotions! What’s the greatest challenge in business? According to Kirk Peterson, Managing Director of business consulting and training company, Performance Shift, it’s managing people! Kirk says it’s an absolute cocktail of emotions, and many believe that their own personal method of people management is the one and only way - which is far from the truth. Kirk says it’s important that managers have a broad, open mind in order to recognise and understand the many different ways of motivating people and getting the most out of them. He also says it’s common for managers to be employed or promoted for reasons related to convenience rather than being the best person for the job. This results in managers not having the ability or the time to manage staff efficiently, which can lead to issues such as disengagement and reductions in productivity. Kirk Peterson tells us what can we do to get the most out of staff. Topics: Human Resources, Management, Personal Development |
