Not everyone wants to take on the responsibility of becoming a Trustee of their own self-managed super fund. There's a lot to take care of, and the consequences of falling foul of the compliance requirements can be onerous. So why not, suggests Julie Steed, of Australian Executor Trustees, recommend that clients consider SAFs - Small APRA Funds - as an alternative. The fund owners still get to make all the investment decisions and run their own fund, but the duties of Trustee are managed by licensed professionals.
