Running Time: 5:20 Date: 01/05/2013 With a new website - like anything else - you get what you pay for. Here are some tips on getting value for money. If you're not technically-minded, deciding on a new website will be about as easy as learning a foreign language all at once - and could prove a whole lot more expensive. But it doesn't have to be that way, says Heather Maloney of Contact Point IT Services. She points out that going for the cheap option can mean relying on overseas suppliers for critical support, having to do a lot of work yourself, and possibly winding up with a "bolted-on" template which looks like a lot of others and is not capable of being upgraded. Going "high-end", on the other hand, may involve spending a lot of money on functions and tools you neither understand nor need. The best course is to source a reputable local developer, be clear about the purpose and the functions you're after, with specifications and costs clearly laid-out and agreed, and that technical support and back-up are readily available when you need them.
