Running Time: 7:22 Date: 01/04/2013 Teleworking, combining technology and flexibility to enable working from outside the office, is here to stay - we can expect to see it grow. New technology, like cloud computing and high-speed broadband, is contributing hugely to the growth of teleworking - working from home or on the road instead of the office. Chris Ridd, CEO of online accounting software firm Xero, says that, while it's not suitable for all job functions or personalities, the benefits of teleworking for both employers and employees can be considerable. Productivity is often higher, infrastructure costs reduce and a new talent pool becomes available. For staff, tiresome commuting can be avoided, distractions are fewer and family responsibilities easier to deal with. The old 9-to-5, clock-on-clock-off mentality hasn't gone yet, but Chris expects to see teleworking grow in leaps and bounds in the years ahead.
