Running Time: 8:01 Date: 01/11/2011 Reality can slap you hard at any time, in a variety of ways. But there are ways of learning how to deal with it. Life has a way of hitting us hard when we least expect it, whether in our personal lives or in business. The pain can be excruciating and it can create a reality gap- the distance between where we are and where we want to be. Bridging that gap isn't easy, but psychotherapist and author Dr Russ Harris has set out in his new book "The Reality Slap" a four-stage process based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. He says treating ourselves kindly plays apart in it, as does letting our mind run free with its often-negative thoughts, but not being weighed down by them. It's all aimed at "Finding the Treasure" - easing the pain by learning to appreciate everything life still has to offer. Topics: Personal Development |
