Running Time: 8:25 Date: 01/07/2012 If you're not sure where your business is going - or how to get there - you probably need a GPS. If everyone in a business knows where it's going, they're much more likely to get there - if they don't, they need a GPS. Not a global positioning system, but Guidance and Positioning Statements. That's the view of Nicholas Barnett, CEO of Insync Surveys, who's written a book to argue the case he believes in passionately. He says the average mission statement isn't enough to get everybody on track and keep them there. What's needed is to define the business's longterm aspiration (what does it want to become), its purpose as an organisation and its "golden goal" - something achievable in the short to medium term which everyone can focus on.
