Date: 01/04/2012 The Australian workforce is getting fatter and sicker, as well as older - we need to heed the warning signs. Not only is the Australian workforce getting older - according to recent surveys, it's getting fatter and sicker too. And, says workplace specialist Andrew Douglas of M + K Lawyers, that's a cause for real concern for business owners and managers, as well as the individuals themselves. With older workers stuck in physically-demanding jobs they can no longer cope with, and obesity (even among the young) making some jobs more dangerous, there's a need for action. Think about changing job descriptions and the nature of the jobs themselves. And be part of the move towards workplace health checks - the evidence shows they can actually save lives.
