Date: 01/01/2011 We all feel better for a good night's sleep - and it's good for our businesses too. Getting a good night's sleep is becoming harder for us all as modern technology makes us available 24/7. And that's reflected in the number of sleep-related enquiries received by workplace psychologists, the Barrington Centre. The Centre's CEO, Rhonda Andrews, says poor sleep can result in a lack of attention and focus at work and has been linked to some of the world's biggest industrial accidents. Poor sleep can also be detrimental to health, resulting in higher infection rates, immunity problems, diabetes and heart disease. Rhonda says we have to tune into our own individual sleep patterns and create more routine around sleep. Rhonda outlines a variety of techniques which have worked for some people, but not others. It's largely a matter, she says, of discovering what works for you as an individual. Topics: Human Resources, Management, Personal Development |
